Insurgency in India's Northeast: A Brief yet Comprehensive Overview
When the words 'militancy' or 'insurgency' are heard, the very first thought is that of Kashmir. Perhaps even Punjab which saw the peak of the Khalistani movement in the 1980s. Or the red corridor areas that are infected with Naxalite-Maoist insurgency. As serious as these problems are, the media has entirely concentrated it's attention on few selected regions that are perceived to be of mainstream importance, and in the process neglected another major threat that country has been tackling for decades: Insurgency in it's North Eastern parts.
