2 Americas: Exposing Vir Das' Hypocrisy

Two years ago, standup comedian Vir Das recited a poem called 2 Indias which garnered a mixed reception. I had strongly voiced out my opinion on it a couple of months ago in another blog. Whatever his ambitions, if he can perform 2 Indias, then it's only fair that he performs 2 Americas. But he won't do that, because that would cancel his Netflix contracts, kill his hopes of acquiring a green card, terminate his visa, and have him deported back to his home country. So since this hypocrite won't do it, somebody has to step up. I've got nothing to lose nor fear. If you clapped then, don't whine and cry about this. I'm indifferent to your emotional meltdowns.

I come from an America that tells the whole world how to behave,

and I come from an America that stands on Native American's grave

I come from an America where we debate Oppenheimer,

and I come from an America where our President gets away with touching minors

I come from an America that flexes the Skyline of New York,

yet down here we can't bear the stinch of sewers while we walk

I come from an America that never means harm,

yet the same America sprayed Agent Orange over Vietnam

I come from an America that no single country can beat.

But despite 10 years in Vietnam, it hung it's head in defeat

I come from an America that morally schools the wrong,

but I also come from an America that dropped the first Atomic Bomb

I come from an America that imposed sanctions on Iran,

and I come from an America that created the Taliban

I come from an America that observes school shootings,

yet the biggest problem discussed is which bathroom one should be using

I come from an America that gave the world Edison and Einstein,

and I come from an America that saw Ted Bundy and Ed Gein

I come from an America that spends relentlessly on its 'defense' and I come from an America,

 where homelessness exists in abundance

I come from an America where the military is supposed to protect the nation,

yet thousands of miles from home is where our troops are stationed

I come from an America pretending to help a country in turmoil,

while the truth is it's only concerned with reserves of oil

I come from an America that believes in a rules based order,

but the same America caused destruction within the Iraqi border

I come from an America where we mindlessly spend on tickets to Superbowl,

and I come from an America where we hesitate to drop money in a blind man's bowl

I come from an America where it is easier for a homeless man to get drugs,

than it is for an average person to get a college degree

I come from an America that dances to Cheap Thrills,

yet I come from an America where we can't afford medical bills

I come from an America that overlooks a common man's pain,

but I come from an America giving billions of dollars to Ukraine

I come from an America where we witness violence against Asians,

but the media is more interested in covering Kardashians

I come from an America where women are seen as empowered,

yet a man identifying as one is allowed to beat them up like a coward

I come from an America where a rich man lays on his couch eating Cheetos,

and I come from an America where a poor man gets jumped on by Latinos

I come from an America that keeps racism under the rug,

and I come from an America where the truth is spoken by a thug

I come from an America where we celebrate owning a gun,

yet I come from an America where hearing the sound of one makes us run

I come from an America that's obsessed to compete,

and I come from an America stuck in the war on the streets

I come from an America where people are slowly turning vegan.

And I come from an America where if I disagree, I'm a pagan

I come from an America where a woman is considered free,

and I also come from an America where the government dictates her body

I come from an America where respecting a woman makes you a simp,

and I come from an America that makes a celebrity out of a pimp

I come from an America where children's shows feature kissing scenes,

yet I come from an America which expects them to not know what sex means

I come from an America where teens twerk to  Nicki Minaj's songs,

and I come from an America where grownups parade in thongs

I come from an America that presents itself as a superpower,

yet I come from an America where 30 women are assaulted each hour

I come from an America where we discourage objectifying females,

and I come from an America where the largest porn industry prevails

I come from an America where men couldn't afford to buy gas.

And I come from an America where the same men subscribed to Onlyfans, to see a fat model's ass.
